John Bromley's comments:
First, the 4600s were rebuilt from 4500s, not 4400s which were MU. The
first rebuilding of 4500s was between 1972-1975, and all were done
except one car previously scrapped.
The 4600s were outshopped from 1986 to 1992, with only two cars in the
latter year before the program was cancelled.
IRM has both ex Cleveland and ex Kansas City PCCs (the latter from San
Francisco who bought it from TTC). I know not which car is actually
undergoing restoration - perhaps both, perhaps neither.
And Fred's comments:
I apologize. Mea culpa. I was hasty ... sure the 4600s would have been
the 4500s because they were the newest non-MU cars. I let myself get
trapped in an area where I'm not totally familiar.
