Had a great two hour conversation with our friend Mark in
Jacksonville last night ... his modum crashed. It was replaced
yesterday and he has hundreds and hundreds of messages stacked up to
read today on his day off from the post office. We may be hearing
from him again.
What a strange winter. Monday night the ground was crunching as I
walked on it.
Yesterday afternoon it was 67 degrees outside when I went to dinner.
It was 40 when I got up today and falling fast. Now its snowing.
And thanks Dennis for reminding us of Bing Crosby's White
Christmas. Perhaps you should bring your quartet to PTM for all the
Santa weekends and play on the car to accompany the girls? Or at
least give us a great freebie on the Black Friday next year. That
fits in the category of the beautiful things in life. Enjoyed it.
There were some really great past entertainers from an era when you
didn't need to shock people to get media value. Der Bingle was one
of them. A railfan from Britain reminded me the other day of
other. He had taken a client to a restaurant in San Francisco and
had the good fortune of being seated next to Bob Hope, the man who
gave away every Christmas for decades to entertain our troops. If
Robert were living now, I'm sure his five Christmases would have been
spent in Iraq and now Afghanistan.
