There was a posting by Philip a few weeks ago about 100 running as a
night car on route 38. Route cards confirm one PCC running evenings
Jan. 12, 1937.

They also note PCC cars assigned to base service February 4, 1937.

Sounds like 100 was given to Tunnel and the 1000s followed
immediately afterwards.

Route 42 Dormont shows a single PCC also running nights on January
12, 1937 and then it also shows a single PCC running nights on March
15, 1937. Go figure. Base service with PCCs on route 42 doesn't
appear in the route cards until 1940.

By the way, the original Dormont service from December 1, 1904 was
Castle Shannon to Pittsburgh via Mt. Lebanon, West Liberty Junction
via Beechview and the tunnel. On May 1, 1907 the cars were cut back
from Castle Shannon to Mount Lebanon. When was route 42 cut back to
Beechview Junction (what we later called Dormont Junction)? Well,
there was a program to rebuild tracks on West Liberty Avenue in
1915. On Mary 3, 1915 all route 42 cars were cut back to Beechview
Junction and exchanged transfers with 38 cars. After the track was
rebuilt, they just never were restored for that last half mile down
to Clearview loop
