I don't really have a lot of time this week, but...

It was in Second Avenue route numbering because they had to put it
somewhere, and since Route 53 left town on that street and 54 went up 18th
Street and out Brownsville Road like 53, it was logical. Quikie glimpse at
routings:

2-18-15 From crossover on Southern Ave. (later Brownsville Road) and Hazel
St. via Southern, S. 18th, Mary, S. 19th, Sidney, S. 22nd, 22nd (Brady) St.
Bridge, Forbes St and return via reverse of same route.

2-1-16 Extended southward to Church Ave. (Carrick CH).

3-13-24 Extended to Brentwood Loop.

10-19-25 Operated Brady, Wharton, S. 22nd to Mary, thence over original
route to EOL. Operation over Sidney and S. 19 th discontinued.

8-17-26 Extended from Forbes and Brady to Duquesne Garden via Forbes to
Craig and return.

3-14-27 Rerouted from Craig to Halket to Forbes and thence over original
route.

5-19-30 Combined with Route 607 to form Destination 77/54 North Side --
Carrick via Bloomfield.
