Unfortunately the shots I embedded in the message got stripped out by the dreaded ecartis, so others on the list will not see them unless they go through the time-consuming trouble and agony of mucking around in the detritus of what ecartis has consigned to its garbage can, deeming the photographic efforts of mere humans to be of insufficient merit to include in the message said human sends. Suspecting that this would be the case is why I sent you a direct copy of the message.

Sorry folks!  I cannot control ecartis.  I suspect no one can!  If you would like to see the fots I sent John, send me a direct email and I’ll copy you in a direct one in return.

If I had brought along a jacket, the first pick could be me.  But face shape doesn't look right for third pix.
 
Thanks for posting, Dwight.  Even the pix at Castle Shannon evokes the question:  "is THAT what I looked like at that age???   Was I ever THAT young???"

The 295 trip was before my time on organized tours, and a few months before my first trip of any on West Penn, which was from Greensburg to Connellsville in the fall of 1951.

The date of the 711 trip was 13 July 1952.  The last regular WP runs were on 9 August 1952, with the farewell tour the following day (the one I missed).  Your shot of 711 was taken on the yard at Huff Car House in Southwest Greensburg.  

The 832 Charleroi-Ingram move was 10 May 1953. Were you also on 4921 for the ride from SHJ down to Charleroi?  Your photo of 832 was taken at Castle Shannon;  that is the closed car house admin building in the background before the borough took it over. I have numerous pictures from that trip and will have to look for a seven year old in them!  Chuck England took movies of that trip;  these AIR went to John Baxter after Chuck’s untimely death and may be in the archives at Arden.

Here, if ecartis does not hijack and hide them, are some of the May 1953 shots that show a youth.  Could it be you?



No kid in the last one;  I included it just because it was one of my first color shots and I rather like it. I think everyone will recognize the locations, but if not, ask.

Hi Dwight My first was the 295 fantrip that included Dickerson Run.  But only 4 and a half at time.  There isn't even an vague impression of that trip.  Total blank.  But there is a photo of my dad sitting next to a small kid peering over a seat back that was used in Headlights magazine around 1985.  There was also the 832 move from Charleroi to Ingram.  There's a vague recollection of Black Diamond Jct, Carson at Smithfield, and coming down a hill towards Ingram.  Because of attached pix, assume these impressions were from this trip.  Probably around seven.  This wasn't my dad's 620 camera.
