[PRCo] Dis-assed-her on the Mon

Dwight,

1958 was the last time I saw a sternwheeler in normal service in Pittsburgh, although I wasn't near the rivers every day.

In the late 50's I photographed the excursion steamboat Avalon docking at the Mon Wharf (I need to find that photo too).  Later, the Avalon was rebuilt and renamed, and operates today as the Belle of Louisville.

Bob

I wonder when the last sternwheeler ran in "normal" revenue service?

I recall that in the mid 60s US Steel's barge line subsidiary had some DPC
towboats that were steam propelled, but AIR they were screws not wheels.
