For several years there was an annual race between the BELLE OF LOUISVILLE 
and the DELTA QUEEN.  It was a big event at Louisville.  It has continued, 
sort of, since the demise of the DQ, but I think perhaps without the same 
panache.

AVALON was originally named IDLEWILD, but like the airport of the same name, 
got renamed  after WW II by a practitioner of Newspeak.
